Stop buying taco seasoning packets 🌮

Learning Old Fashioned Ways in a Modern World

with Laura Lawrence

Hi Reader

If you’ve ever looked at the back of a taco seasoning packet, you know it’s usually filled with things like corn starch, anti-caking agents, and way more salt than you need.

So today I want to show you a better way.

I put together a free Homemade Spice Mix & Sauce Guide that walks through simple mixes you can make right in your own kitchen.

Things like:

• taco seasoning
• ranch mix
• everyday spice blends
• simple sauces that make meals taste amazing

And to make it even more helpful, I included a full cooking video lesson where I walk through an entire taco night from scratch.

In the video I show:

🌮 How to mix homemade taco seasoning
🌮 The best way to brown the meat for flavor
🌮 How to stretch the meal with refried beans
🌮 Simple toppings and sides to build a full taco dinner

This lesson actually comes from one of our Junior Cooking Club classes, where we teach kids and families practical cooking skills and real meals from scratch.

You can grab the guide and watch the lesson here:

Once you start mixing your own spices, you’ll realize how simple it is — and how much better your food tastes.

Let me know if you try the taco seasoning!

Laura

P.S. If you enjoy learning how to cook from scratch like this, you’ll probably also enjoy my book where I share gardening, recipes, and homestead cooking all in one place.

Laura Lawrence Hi Reader Everyone is itching to get in the garden right now… I get it. The sun comes out, the snow melts, and suddenly it feels like GO time. But here in the Midwest? That’s exactly how you lose your garden. I just put out a new video walking you through exactly what I’m doing right now—what I’m preparing, what I’m holding off on, and when I actually plant (based on what works here, not what the internet says). Because excitement doesn’t grow food… timing does. Watch HERE 🎥...

gardening in the midwest

Laura Lawrence Hi Reader If you’ve been thinking about starting a garden this year—you’re in the right place. Gardening in the Midwest (especially here in Michigan 🌿) is not the same as what you see online from warmer climates. Timing, soil, and weather matter a lot more than most people realize. That’s why I put together a simple, practical guide: 👉 How to Start a Garden in the Midwesthttps://foodprood.com/how-to-start-a-garden-midwest/ Inside, you’ll learn: When to actually plant in our...

Laura Lawrence From Seed to Plate: Where Real Food Freedom Begins Hi! One thing I do a little differently…I teach for our area.Because if you’re following someone in a completely different climate, you’re going to plant at the wrong time. You’ll feel behind… or too early… or like you’re doing something wrong. You’re not. You’re just not gardening in their conditions. Our soil is different. Our weather is different. Our timing is different. And that matters more than anything. That’s why everything I...
