Quick Summer Snacks, Hungry Kids & My Favorite Pantry Staples

Laura Lawrence

Summertime for me means more time outside soaking up the sunshine, vitamin D, working in the gardens, and enjoying all the good stuff… which also means less time in the kitchen and somehow hungrier kids than usual.

Since I put them to work weeding all day and never allow breaks… 😉 Just kidding. (Though I’m sure that’s what they think.)

It all means I need quick snacks I can make—or better yet, snacks THEY can make.

But before summer chaos fully kicks in, I need to make sure the pantry is stocked and ready to rock.

One resource we’ve used for years to stock our pantry with organic staples is Azure Standard. This is where we regularly order things like:

🧈 Butter
🥛 Sour Cream
🥜 Peanut Butter
🥣 Oats
🌾 Wheat Berries
🍞 Organic Flour
🌮 Tortilla Wraps

…and plenty more.

If you’re trying to cook more from scratch, source organic ingredients, stock a pantry, or rely a little less on the grocery store, it’s one of our favorite resources. NEW Customers receive 15% off their first order of $100 with code "NEW15" + plus ya'll we need any savings we can get in this ridiculously out of control inflation, am I right?

Now onto the important part… easy snacks and treats kids can help make this summer:

🌼 Dandelion Shortbread Cookies
A fun seasonal treat while dandelions are still popping up:

If your pantry is stocked, summer cooking gets a whole lot easier.

Now tell me… what snack disappears the fastest at your house?

I'm currently awaiting anxiously the sight of my scapes (I grow hardneck) - once they start appearing I'll cut them off and use them in several recipes like my "Poor Man's Pesto" or my...

Laura Lawrence From Starter to Artisan Hi Reader Hot take: I’m not feeding my starter three times a day. I have: 🌱 gardens🐑 animals👨👩👧👦 kids🍽️ meals to make…and approximately 47 other things happening Which means my sourdough has to work in real life. I think beginners quit because they’re told sourdough has to be: ❌ exact❌ strict❌ time consuming I disagree. You need enough understanding to make it work. Not fear. Not perfection. Just practical knowledge and confidence. That’s the approach I...
